A Tribute to ...

  • Roger Anderson

    Roger Anderson

Durham Region lost a true champion for our community when Regional Chair Roger Anderson passed away in March 2018. Roger first entered politics as an Ajax councillor wanting more rinks built. His annual charity golf tournament raised more than $6 million and strengthened our community. Thank you, Roger.

  • Sandy Mitchell

    Sandy Mitchell

We are deeply saddened by the loss of Sandy Mitchell who passed away in May 2018. So many lives are better thanks to Sandy’s vision and philanthropy as founder of WindReach Farm. He was also an accomplished Paralympian and we are inspired by Sandy’s steadfast refusal to allow himself or others be defined by “disabilities”.

Ontario Parasport Games Legacy Fund

An important part of our mission as hosts of the 2019 Ontario Parasport Games, is to grow participation in parasport across the province and here in Durham Region. We are building a legacy fund in partnership with Their Opportunity to ensure economic standing is not a barrier to parasport participation for youth in Durham Region.

Their Opportunity is a Durham-based charitable organization with offices in Oshawa, Ottawa, and Calgary.  Please visit: www.theiropportunity.com for more information.
